Class of 1967 with the schools in the background
Basketball Team 1966-67

The 1966-67 team was led in scoring by Jim Harshbarger (#23). Jim scored 630 points in his two year career (7th on the list). He blistered the nets for 471 his senior year which placed him third on the single season chart. He had a high game of 34 that year which was the 4th highest in Canner history.

Basketball Team 1970-71

This is the last Canner basketball team that represented the proud LHS tradition before consolidation. Paul Houston (#41) was the leading scorer. He scored 342 points his senior year to place him 5th on the all-time single season scoring list. The Canners were 5-16 that year under Coach Scott Griffey. They finished the last 35 years of the modern era with a record of 382-366 for a winning pct. of .510 placing them 6th in the County behind Darlington, Crawfordsville, New Ross, Linden, and Waveland.
Basketball Team 1969-70

Dave Williamson (#23 in the picture) ended a great two year varsity career by scoring 483 points which is the single season scoring record for Canner basketball. He finished the year with an average of 23.0 per game and had a high game of 35 points (third on the list) against Crawfordsville. His 760 points places him 4th on the career scoring list.

Basketball Team and cheerleaders 1967-68
The Canners were 7-13 in 1967-68, Coach Max Price's 5th and last year. The 6 seniors were Dave Rhoads, Dave Wilson, Kenny Bishop, Carl Cox, and Steve Williamson. Williamson led the Canners in scoring that year with 204 points and a high game of 22 against Granville Wells. He finished his three year career on the varsity with 436 points. Dave Rhoads scored 172 points that year and Kenny Bishop chipped in with 160. The Canners lost to a great Darlington team in the opening game of the County Tourney 91-60 and the first game of the sectional to Linden 72-64.
Basketball Team 1963-64


Tom Todd (#53 in the picture) ended a brilliant career in 1964, 5th on the career scoring list with 668 points for a 12.1 average. Tom scored 475 points his senior year to finish second on the single season scoring list. He had an average of 20.7 per game with a high game of 33 against Dover. Tom is #53 waiting for the rebound in the picture at left.

Basketball Team 1958-59
Phil Jeffries was one of the stars of the late fifties. He is #43 in this picture. He ended his career 6th on the all-time scoring list with 634 points for a 12.7 average. He blistered the nets for a single game high of 30 points against Crawfordsville in 1959 which is the 7th highest single game total.Basketball Team 1956-57

Jack Hester concluded a brilliant career at LHS in 1957. He won County Championships in all three sports winning in basketball in 1949, baseball in 1953, and track in 1949 and 1954. In his ten year career, Ladoga won 147 games while losing only 72 for a winning pct. of .671. He finished with more County Tourney Championships (6) than any other coach. Jack won 5 times at New Market and once at Ladoga. He finished with the second highest win total in County history as his teams won 259 games. He ended up second only to Tom Bowerman whose teams won 265 games.
Basketball Team 1957-58
Mel Todd--Leading scorer in Canner history

Mel Todd was the career leading scorer in Ladoga Canner history. In his three-year, 63 game career from 1953 to 1956, He scored 823 points for an average of 13.1 per game. He scored 325 points in his senior year, 1955-56. In back to back seasons of 1954-55 and 1955-56, Mel scored 610 points and led the Canners to a record of 31-12. In his three season career, the Canners were 17-5, 13-7 and 18-5 for sparkling record of 48-17. He was a great teammate.
