Basketball Team 1946-47 Varsity

The 1946-47 basketball team was Doc Neff's 17th, last and one of the most successful, winning the first County Tourney in school history. The Canners were 13-9 that year and were led in scoring by Vernon Ross who scored 180 points and had a high game of 23 against Jamestown. The senior captains were Bob Stull and Dorman Rogers. The Canners were well-balanced that year as all five starters scored over 100 points. After Ross' 180 came Bob Stull with 159, Dorman Rogers with 138, Jerry Zachary with 131 and Jim Davis with 100. Dick Williamson, Joe Prosser, and Everett Foster were sophomores on the championship team of 1947 and were the only Canners to play on both the 1947 County Champs and the 1949 championship team. Left to right are shown Jim Davis, Jerry Zachary, Dorman Rogers, Bob Stull and Vernon Ross.
