Jack Hester's second team, 1948-49 was one of his most succesful and most balanced. They won the County Tourney, the second for the Canners in three years and had a record of 19-3. They had to win four games to claim the crown rolling over Waynetown 43-34, edging New Market 30-27, and Waveland 34-29, before soundly defeating Linden in the championship game 44-31. The Canners had five scorers over 140 points, led by Joe Prosser (#10) with 162, followed by Richard Rogers (kneeling far left)with 154. Dick Williamson (#7) and Everett Foster (#9) each had 152 points and LaMarr Nicholson (kneeling second from right) rounded out the scoring for the starting five with 144.
